Since we have been dealing with chocolate water this week from all the rain, this week’s fishing report is brought to you from #1 Sore Lip’Em All Guide “Mousse”….. With the weekend rains, the Greers Ferry Lake level has jumped up over 8ft above conservation top pool. The middle and lower sections of the Little Red are stained from the various creeks’ runoff. Daily generation helps flush the stained water, so we should be in good shape in the next couple of days (unless we receive significant amounts of rainfall). Even though the lake level is high and the second generator is now online, we are hoping for favorable generation patterns with “windows” for drift and possibly wade fishing. We are seeing a good caddis hatch taking place when we have lower water levels. Streamers, hares ear, san juan worms and sowbugs continue to work well for fly fishermen. Trout Magnet colors are hot pink, cotton candy and purple haze bodies on chartreuse and gold Trout Magnet jig heads. Especially during this time of year, always check before heading to the Little Red River by calling the Greers Ferry Lake Powerhouse recording or check the Corps of Engineers website for real time water release and the Southwest Power Administration forecasted generation schedule.
