This week’s rain has discolored the middle and lower sections of the Little Red while the upper sections remain clear. Scheduled generation this week should clear up all sections in a few days. Currently we are receiving power generation on weekdays and very little generation on weekends. With forecasted rains towards the end of the week and over the weekend, we will post river condition updates on here and our social media pages.  Warmer temperatures have produced good bug activity with hatches of BWO, March Browns and caddis on the middle and lower river. For fly fishing, we recommend gold ribbed hare’s ear, pheasant tails, soft hackles, sowbugs and streamers. Black and cotton candy colored Trout Magnet bodies on gold jig heads are recommended for spin fishing. Always check before heading to the Little Red River by calling the Corps of Engineers Little Rock District water data system (501.362.5150) for Greers Ferry Dam water release information or check the Corps of Engineers website (swl-wc.usace.army.mil) for real time water release and the Southwest Power Administration website (swpa.gov) to see forecasted generation schedule.
