The Little Red continues to receive one unit of generation basically 24hrs a day. However, over the past few days the Corps of Engineers (COE) have been “pulsing” the second generator in anticipation of getting it back online sometime this weekend or next week. We continue to fish one unit of water. This past week we had some really good days with larger rainbows boated. With the erratic water levels, due to the COE pulsing the second unit, the last two days we have had to adjust depths and locations. With the continuous generation and sunny days, we have seen the lake level drop significantly this past week. As of today (Friday) the lake is only around 1 foot over seasonal pool. If we don’t receive substantial rain amounts this weekend and early next week, we will see a more favorable generation pattern for drift and wade fishing in the coming weeks. Until then…fish’em deep and use lots of weight! Streamers, hares ear, san juan worms and sowbugs continue to work well for fly fishermen. Trout Magnet colors are hot pink and purple bodies on chartreuse and gold Trout Magnet jig heads. Always check before heading to the Little Red River by calling the Greers Ferry Lake Powerhouse recording or check the Corps of Engineers website for real time water release and the Southwest Power Administration forecasted generation schedule.
