Greers Ferry Lake is over 10 feet above normal level. Currently we are receiving 2 units of generation beginning late morning and ending before midnight. This generation pattern is providing opportunities for wade fishing on the upper section of the river in the early morning hours and middle lower sections in the afternoons. Sometime in the near future we can expect heavy generation for extended periods as the Corps of Engineers lowers the lake level. Streamers, hares ear, san juan worms, egg pattern and sowbugs continue to work well for fly fishermen. Hot Trout Magnet colors have been red, purple haze, millworm and cotton candy bodies on gold Trout Magnet jig heads. Don’t forget free fishing weekend is noon, Friday, June 12, until midnight, Sunday, June 14. Residents and nonresidents may fish this weekend without fishing licenses or trout permits. Regulations for Arkansas waters apply: daily limits, slot limits and length limits must be observed. This is a great time to go trout fishing….look forward to seeing you on the Little Red! Always check before heading to the Little Red River by calling the Greers Ferry Lake Powerhouse recording or check the Corps of Engineers website for real time water release and the Southwest Power Administration forecasted generation schedule.
